DesBrisay Museum is located at 130 Jubilee Road, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Follow the blue key signs once you get to Town. We have plenty of parking, and wheelchair access.

Our Research Centre is available during museum public open hours and is open year-round. We recommended that appointments be made with the Curator whenever possible to ensure she is available to assist you. General museum admission fees are charged for those doing research, and Reproduction Fees are also charged for photocopies, etc.

On-Site Services
Our staff will assist you in accessing materials you require for your research.  We also have a number of self-serve Finding Aids. Our Curator will explain these to you.

 

Distance Research
You can also request that research be done for you. All research requested by mail, telephone, fax or email is available at $10.00 per hour, plus the cost of photocopies and shipping costs, and is handled by staff and volunteers at the Museum. Researchers are asked to give a limit that they wish to spend as pre-payment is required for all research and copies. Fees can be paid by cheque or money order, made payable to DesBrisay Museum. U.S. exchange rates are the responsibility of the researcher.

We require that you acknowledge the DesBrisay Museum as your source of any information received from us and that such information cannot be entered into an Internet site, or published in any form without written permission from the DesBrisay Museum.


Handling of Archival Materials

 

No food, drink, candy, or gum is permitted in the Museum or Research Centre. Pens are not permitted in the Research Centre.
  • A limit of three (3) documents or photographs will be provided at any one time.
  • Materials may not be removed or loaned from the DesBrisay Museum Research Centre by researchers. Staff will make every effort to make all materials accessible to researchers; however, some materials may be unavailable for reasons of fragility, copyright restrictions, protection of personal information, or donor agreements.
  • Photocopying of archival documents is provided at the discretion of the staff.
