Skate of the Art will be a simply delicious evening of local art, music, food & drink. Thirty hand painted skateboard decks will be on display for a silent auction in support of the Bridgewater Skate Park. Spend your evening with us; bidding on your favorite skateboard, sipping some local beer or wine, listening to talented local musicians and sampling some of our region's amazing local foods in the LCLC's beautiful atrium.
You will see some of the amazing painted skateboards on display around the towns of Bridgewater, Lunenburg and Mahone Bay during the month of July. Keep your eyes peeled for your favorite board and take it home with you on July 28.
Skate of the Art will take place on Friday, July 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC) at 135 North Park Street in Bridgewater. There is no entry fee to attend the event and there will be a cash bar. Live music and delicious light snacks crafted with local ingredients will be complimentary.
For years, this community has been planning a skate park. Wonderful efforts have been made to offer workshops, invest in equipment for loan, build temporary structures and fundraise through demo events and bottle drives as example.
A couple years ago, the location was secured and funds were raised to commission Spectrum SkateParks, a world leader in skate park design and construction, to design a 10,000 sq ft skate plaza complete with challenging ramps, bowls, rails, and featuring a beginner street leg. Check it out!
The Bridgewater Skate Park Committee has been working behind the scenes to put a plan in place to get this awesome free, public, active space built. The York Street location for the park has access to trails and is wedged between the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre and a new private development focusing on health and fitness. It couldn't be better placed!
Together we can build something that's been missing from the landscape, a friendly, accessible space that rewards those who are not necessarily involved in organized sports, but feel at home in an active, skilled & social environment like a skate park. This will be a skate park for all ages that will challenge your game, strengthen your abilities and your sense of belonging.
If you are unable to attend the event in person but you would like to bid on one of the skateboards please text (902) 212-0474 or (902) 523-3454 before the event with your name, details of the board you would like to bid on and how much you are willing to pay. We will then facilitate your bidding on the evening of the event. To support the skate park, you can also donate online to our crowdfunding page by clicking here!
