Address: 252 Aberdeen Rd.

Heritage Status: None
Built:  c. 1895
Builder/Architect: Probably Thomas McGuire
Style: Greek Revival

Architecture:

  • This home has some elements of Greek Revival with its steeply gabled roof and central chimney at the peak. Note the "L" plan, the slanted roof on the back side of the house,  and veranda which extends from the front around the side of the building. There is also a fanlight over the front door.

History:

  • This home and its neighbours (244 and 258 Aberdeen Rd.) were built around the same time and using the same plan.
  • Enos Ernst, the first owner, owned and sold much property on Aberdeen Rd. Likely Thomas McGuire, a railway employee, built the home and it it stayed in his family for at least 90 years.
