Address: 793 LaHave St.

Heritage Status: None
Built: c.1864
Builder/Architect: J. Levi Oxner
Style: Maritime Vernacular

Architecture:

  • This house is an excellent example of mid 19th century Vernacular. It has a gable roof, centered doorway, transom and sidelights. The simple lines and classically inspired trim around the main door and windows adds a great deal to this late colonial design.

History:

  • A house belonging to John Levi (Jumbo) Oxner is mentioned on this property as early as 1864. Oxner probably built this house for himself next to his place of business, which is also mentioned in these early deeds.  THhs house is strongly tied to Bridgewater's history.
