Address: 31 Maple St.

Heritage Status: None
Built: c.1880 Builder/Architect: Unknown
Style: Maritime Vernacular

Architecture:

  • Still quite intact architecturally, this house has a cross gable roof structure. There is a door set into the gable end which opens onto a small balcony which is set into the roof of the enclosed veranda. On the side of the house facing Scotia St. there is a small bay window. It also has plain belt courses which define the first floor, second floor and attic levels.

History:

  • Nothing is known about William J. Cronin. His wife or widow, Julia, is recorded in the 1914 Lunenburg County Directory as living on Maple St. but the deed search indicates that the property was actually owned by Herbert Hall from 1886 onwards. The house later came into the possession of Lawry Hall.
