9 Empire

Address: 9 Empire St.

Heritage Status: None
Built: From 1904 to 1908 Builder/Architect: Unknown
Style: Elements of Four Square

Architecture:

  • This building has a hipped roof with a small gothic dormer protruding from it. The large building is also a hipped roofed structure with a small dormer.

History:

  • Dr. H.A. March purchased this lot, which houses both buildings in 1904 and appears to have built these houses before he sold the lot in 1908 for $4,300. Because of the large number of physicians who owned the proprety it could very well be that an office was located in one of these houses, one of them being Dr. Dugald Stewart, who had the distinction of being mayor of Bridgewater from 1907 to 1909.
