Architecture:

  • This house is clearly of late 19th century origins and has substantially been altered by its conversion to a clinic. Elements of detail survive, notably the moulded hoods over some windows and doors. 

History:

  • This house was originally owned by Benjamin W. C. (Walter Carroll) Manning, said to have been the town's first hotelkeeper and was a known sea captain. Benjamin and wife Waity Manning (Newcomb) owned this property until 1886 but it remained in the Manning family until 1947. Benjamin and Waity had six sons and one daughter.
