31 Jubilee

Address: 31 Jubilee Rd.

Heritage Status: None
Built: 1870 (assumed) Builder/Architect: Jacob Meisenger (assumed)
Style: Unknown

Architecture:

  • Clearly never an elaborate house, this building still retains elements of its early character. Note the simple moulded window hoods, the hipped roof, enclosed storm porch, and pediment gable roofed dormer. It is likely that the gable roofed section, stepped into the hillside, which was the original structure to which the rear wing was added at a later date. The house may have had a major fire and renovations making it a duplex between 1990 and 1991.

History:

  • The deed research does not clearly indicate the year of construction. Jacob Meisenger (Meisner) is identified in the location on the A. F. Church Map (c.1883). Jacob was born in 1830 and would have been 36 years old when he bought this property. It is reasonable to assume that he built this house a few years later. He is described in the deed of 1911 as a "trader".
