Building Permits and Fire Inspections
The Building and Fire Inspection Services operate out of the Engineering Department on the first floor of the Town Hall. Their main functions include receiving and processing applications for building permits, carrying out building inspections, performing routine fire inspections, and the administration of any dangerous and unsightly premises concerns.

The following guidelines have been drafted to assist any person or party intending to erect, construct, add to, alter, replace or relocate any building or part of a building or structure; change or alter the use made of land, buildings or structures within the Town of Bridgewater.

The Town of Bridgewater employs municipal fire inspectors as required by the Fire Safety Act of Nova Scotia. The inspectors carry out a system of inspections on the following occupancies:
Pool and Deck Regulations
The following guidelines have been drafted to assist residents of the Town of Bridgewater intending to construct a deck and/or for the installation of a swimming pool and fence.
Dangerous and Unsightly Premises
The Town of Bridgewater enforces the requirements of Section 15 of the Municipal Government Act of Nova Scotia. The Act requires that "every property in a municipality shall be maintained so as not to be dangerous or unsightly."
