The Town of Bridgewater's Facade Improvement Program is a matching grants program, which may provide grants valued at up to $5,000 for commercial premises or business owners who wish to undertake exterior renovation projects in the King Street Architectural Control Area (the Victoria Road to Maple Street block of King Street, inclusive; refer to the map below) in Downtown Bridgewater.

Why facade improvement?
In 2016, Bridgewater Town Council voted to support the creation of the Bridgewater Facade Society and its Facade Improvement Program for the downtown. Facade Improvement Programs are widely accepted as a way to engage private business and landowners in sprucing up the exterior appearance of their buildings. The resulting changes can help to revitalize a given area of the community, breathing new life and energy into areas that are tired. From major renovations to something a s simple as a fresh coat of paint, Facade Improvement Programs go a long way to helping to improve the experience of vistiors and customers in shopping districts.

About the Program
For the 2016-17 year, Bridgewater Town Council committed $50,000 to aid the Bridgewater Facade Society in establishing a Bridgewater Facade Improvement Program.

In 2018-19, the Town took over administration of the program and in the spring of 2019, Town Council allocated additional funds to top up the program after the initial investment had been exhausted by successful grant applications.
