Clean Energy Financing now available Clean Energy Financing helps homeowners in Bridgewater install clean energy upgrades with all up-front costs paid by the Town with re-payments specifically designed to cost less than your new energy savings – which means, your savings cover the cost of your financing. Increasing the comfort of your home and saving money are great incentives but this also works as a starting point for residents who are ready to take their first significant steps towards a clean energy future, something our entire community will be working towards over the next 30 years as part of our community’s energy shift. Clean Energy Financing is a great way to start your household energy shift because it begins with a detailed home energy assessment and a customized list of upgrades, unique to your home, like new windows, doors, insulation, heat pumps and solar panels. With heating and cooling as your biggest energy costs, even small changes can deliver big returns on thermal comfort. Clean Energy Financing works by attaching up to $20,000 of upgrades to your home, with monthly repayments made to the Town. With up to ten years to spread out the payments, you can top-up or pay off the financing at any time without penalty and if you sell your home, the remaining dues can be transferred to the new homeowner. Eligible clean energy upgrades include, but are not limited to, the following:
* These upgrades will require a supplementary assessment, in additional to a Home Energy Assessment, to determine if they meet the required savings-to-debt ratio. About the Clean Energy Financing Program The Clean Energy Financing Program is administered by highly qualified energy professionals at the Clean Foundation, which also administers the same program for several other Municipalities in Nova Scotia. Through the Clean Energy Financing program, the four municipalities are leading the way in energy efficiency in the province. This program helps residents to reduce the long-term costs associated with energy, especially heating and cooling as these are a home’s largest energy costs.
