LOBSTER CRAWL WORKSHOPS AT NSCC LUNENBURG CAMPUS

We've been asked to share some exciting info about the 2020 South Shore Lobster Crawl Festival this February. Among the other events going on, there will be four workshops under the theme "50 Ways to Love Your Lobster," at NSCC Lunenburg Campus in Bridgewater with Chef Raimer Fuhlendorf.

Workshop 1 – February 4, Lobster Appetizers

This is an introductory workshop to cooking lobster- lobster pot to plate and all steps required in between. Focus will be given to properly cooking, shelling and finally incorporating the delicious lobster in appetizers. Participants will infuse flavors and ingredients from around the world to create new experiences. The class will be interactive with participants engaging in various steps with making and sampling of all items – the best part of all!

Workshop 2 – February 15, Lobster Rolls

This workshop will introduce the student to making traditional Maritime lobster rolls. Focus will be given to key characteristics of a lobster roll, properly cooking, shelling, preparing the flavorful filling and baking the signature soft roll. The class will be interactive with participants engaging in various steps with making and wrapping up with enjoy a fresh hade-made Maritime lobster roll!

Workshop 3 – February 18, Lobster Cakes and Chowder

This workshop will introduce the student to making traditional lobster cakes and chowder- a staple in every Nova Scotian’s repertoire!  Focus will be given to properly cooking, shelling and finally incorporating the delicious lobster into lobster cakes and chowder. Demonstration and discussion will address key ingredients, method and characteristics for great chowder. Participants will prepare provided recipes and sample a bowl of their crafted learning.

Workshop 4 – February 29, Lobster Entrees

This workshop will introduce the student to preparing classical Lobster Thermidor and Lobster Paella. Focus will be given to cooking the lobster and incorporating its richness into the recipes along with key ingredients. The class will be interactive with participants engaging in various steps of the recipe and fully appreciating these dishes by sampling their flavors at the end of the class.
