138 High

Address: 138 High St.

Heritage Status: None
Built: 1911 Builder/Architect: Lawrence Oickle
Style: Maritime Vernacular

  • Some tastefully made additions have given this house a rambling appearance. The gabled roof has an ell section and a shed dormer on both sides of the roof. Of note are the wide corner boards, the brackets underneath the eaves, the tall brick chimney and the way the veranda connects the ell section with the main part of the house.

  • Lawrence Oickle purchased this lot from James A. Tobin for $150 in 1911. He apparently built this house shortly thereafter, although owners have found what they believed to be the ruins from a house that once stood on this same location.
