Getting settled and finding your way in a new community can be challenging for people of all ages.
If you're new to the area, you likely have many questions, ranging from basic day-to-day issues like, "What day does my garbage collection take place?" or "Is there a local playgroup for toddlers?" to more complex personal and social challenges, like "How do I meet new people and establish lasting friendships and connections here?"
In 2022, for the first time the Town of Bridgewater has hired a community navigator as part of a pilot project with DesBrisay Museum to help new and prospective residents establish themselves in Bridgewater.
After seeing the success of the program and the importance of the position demonstrated, with inquiries from more than 200 new and prospective residents in the first year, Town Council approved the creation of a permanent dedicated community navigator starting in 2023.
Rebecca Baccardax is the Town of Bridgewater staff member who has taken on this important new role in supporting those looking to build a life in Bridgewater with zeal and enthusiasm.
