Kids-sportsWhat is PRO Kids?

Positive Recreation Opportunities for Kids! PRO Kids is a unique concept that was developed by the City of Thunder Bay in Ontario and is now implemented in many communities across Canada, including the Town of Bridgewater. This is a program that provides financial assistance to children and youth from the Town of Bridgewater who, due to lack of funds, are not able to participate in sport, recreation and cultural activities. Families can access funds to cover some, or all of the cost of registration fees for a sport or recreational activity of your child's choice. This program strives to remove financial barriers to ensure every child and youth has an opportunity to participate.

To verify the cut-offs, we require your most recent tax year Notice of Assessment, (one for each parent/ guardian in the household), or an endorsement from the Department of Community Services, or an endorsement from Indigenous l Assistance. Your total family income (line 15000) must be less than the cut-offs listed for your family size:

KidSport is another option for financial assistance. Organzations must be registered with Sport Nova Scotia. Another option for financial assistance is through Canadian Tire Jumpstart. Apply on-line by visiting www.jumpstart.canadiantire.ca

If your request is specifically for hockey and being run by a sanctioned Hockey Canada association, you may also wish to apply to Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund.  Apply on line here: Hockey Canada Assist Fund

Where does funding for PRO Kids come from?

In addition to Town funding, PRO Kids relies on the support of community agencies such as the United Way of Lunenburg County, groups, organizations, schools, businesses and private individuals for continued support.

If you'd like to donate to the Town of Bridgewater PRO Kids fund, we can accept cash, cheque and credit card.  Feel free to drop into the Town offices at 60 Pleasant St during regular business hours and speak to someone at the front counter. You can also mail your cheque in, or alternatively you can phone in to donate using your credit card. Please be sure to let the person who answers the phone know that your donation is for PRO Kids and you will not be charged the usual handling fee for credit card processing.  Tax receipts will also be issued for any donation over $25.00

We thank you for each and every donation.  You are changing lives of our youth for the better!
