Sustainability won’t just happen by itself - it will require the participation of the whole community. If changing lifestyles were easy, sustainability would already be here today. In order to change, we have to know what to do, how to overcome obstacles, and practice new behaviours. In a sustainable future, we will be an informed community that is committed to responsible individual and collective action.
We have 2 goals for sustainability education:
In the areas of infrastructure, energy, food, transportation, and economy…

|How will the Town of Bridgewater measure success in the future?|
Over the long term, our goal is that sustainability education will result in the following measurable changes in the community:
- more sustainability practices in the home
- high participation in projects that come out of this plan
We will achieve these successes by continuing to improve our own operations, by working with community partners and businesses to start new programs, by setting appropriate public policies that relate to sustainability education, and by advocating for sustainability education policies at the provincial and federal levels of government.
