Architecture:

• This unusual house is built of concrete block, with ornamental rustication at the quoins, around window and door openings, and on the first floor level on the side of the house. The wooden roof framing is accented by ornamental shinglework in the gable end and the dormer in the side of the house, and by returned eaves at these locations. Wooden lintels above windows and doors are accented by white paint. The wooden front veranda (enclosed on one side) retains its original turned posts and railings. There is a small, single storey modern addition at the rear of the house.

History:

• Joseph Grant, a railroad worker, bought this lot from WIlliam Owen in 1907. The house sold in 1934 to Arthur E. Smith, a blacksmith.
