Built: c. 1890 Builder/Architect: Unknown

Architecture:

  • This is a two and a half storey gable roofed house with a hipped dormer. The upper storeys of the house retain their original character-- note the moulded belt courses which are in line with the interior floor levels, decorative shingles at the peak of the gable, tongue and groove diagonal panelling at the attic level, and raised cornerboards with a boxed finish under the returned eaves. At the ground floor level, however, alterations have been made and a modern veranda was added.

History:

  • Philip Rafuse, the original owner, is described in the 1914 Lunenburg County Directory as a "wharfinger"-- he owned a wharf.
