The Town of Bridgewater is pleased to officially welcome our new Director of Finance Kim Hopkins, who will join the team beginning on May 19.

Kim has spent the last 21 years of her career with Grant Thornton LLP providing audit, accounting, and advisory services to small and medium-size businesses, not for profit organizations, towns and municipalities, and other public-sector entities.

Her interest in municipal accounting grew over the years and she specialized in providing services to towns and municipalities on the South Shore and across the entirety of the province.

“I am looking forward to the role of Director of Finance,” she said. “Bridgewater is experiencing increased growth and development. I’m very happy to be part of the progress and bring the experiences I’ve had in public accounting with me into this new role, contributing to projects such as Energize Bridgewater, the Smart Cities Challenge, Bridgewater Transit, and the many other initiatives the Town is working on.”

Kim and her husband, Greg, were each born and raised locally and they wanted their children to have the opportunity to grow up here as well.

“Our children are very active in various sports and if you’re looking for me outside of work, I’m likely in a rink somewhere watching them at hockey and figure skating!”

Kim is taking over for departing Director of Finance Dawn Keizer, who will be retiring in June.
