Exit 12A and Bridgewater Business Park

Since 2019, the Town of Bridgewater has been working with the Government of Canada, the Province of Nova Scotia, and our local business community here on the South Shore toward the construction of a new Highway 103 interchange at Exit 12A.

This location, which opens into the heart of the Bridgewater Business Park and provides access to more than 125 acres of previously inaccessible land north of Highway 103 officially opened on December 20, 2024.

Building from the Town of Bridgewater's 2021 Infrastructure Master Plan, the Bridgewater Retail Market and Accommodation Analysis, the Clean Fuel Feasibility Study, and workshops with area business leaders, in April 2025 Town Council endorsed the proposed Exit 12A Concept Development Plan and Phase I Plan.

May 2025: Zoning Amendments
With Council's endorsement of the Concept Development Plan, Bridgewater's Community Development Department is undertaking a process to enable the Zoning Amendments required to support and enact the Exit 12A plan. The process, as set out in the Municipal Government Act, included:

-- May 7: Public Engagement Session

-- May 23: Deadline for Public Feedback/Comments

Thereafter, Public Readings of the proposed Zoning Amendments will be carried out, during which time the public will have the opportunity to provide comment and feedback prior to Council approval.
