UPDATE (10:45 a.m.)
At approximately 9:00 p.m. last night, Lunenburg District RCMP received a call regarding an attempted stolen vehicle in Hebbville, Nova Scotia. RCMP, with assistance of Bridgewater Police Service, set up a perimeter to allow RCMP ERT to search the location for the suspect.
After a thorough search of a wooded area in Hebbville, Tobias Charles Doucette was located and arrested without incident. Doucette was still only wearing shorts, with no shoes or shirt. No weapons were located during the arrest. Doucette suffered no injuries as the result of the arrest. He was assessed by EHS while in custody for his wellbeing.
Police were prepared for a safe resolution and are pleased that no one else was hurt during this event.
The police investigation is ongoing and Doucette is expected to appear at Bridgewater Justice Centre on Monday, July 27, 2020, for initial plea.
Police again want to thank the public for their understanding and heightened sense of awareness over the past several days. Police are also grateful for the outpouring of support and well wishes for Sgt. Bennett and K-9 Fergus as they continue with their recoveries.
