POST-STORM PROJECT UPDATES

>>> VICTORIA ROAD

Repair work on the section of Victoria Road damaged by the July 21/22 storm is nearing completion.

However, residents are advised that a contractor will begin work on water service equipment in this same area of Victoria Road on August 21 - this work is related to an upcoming and previously scheduled project.

This work is necessary to ensure residents in the area can continue to have access to water service and must take place prior to the major infrastructure upgrade project that will begin on High Street later this summer.

Crews will work their way from the Wile Carding Mill area on Victoria Road westward toward High Street over the next few weeks. The existing street closure in the area will remain in place during that time.

Once that preliminary work is completed, crews will move on to High Street and focus on work there, while Victoria Road will be re-opened to traffic.

The Town will provide additional notice to the public prior to the traffic pattern changing in the area.

In the meantime, motorists are advised that the work on Victoria Road and then High Street will result in some delays and detours in the area - motorists should plan their travel time accordingly and take extra care to watch for pedestrians crossing at the intersection of High and Victoria.

>>> VEINOT BRIDGE

The Town continues to work with the Province of Nova Scotia's Department of Public Works team toward the reopening of Veinot Bridge just north of the downtown on King Street. Nova Scotia Public Works has advised that they anticipate Veinot Bridge should reopen to traffic within the next couple of weeks.

Pedestrian access across the brook in the area will take longer to restore, and the Town of Bridgewater is currently exploring solutions. The pedestrian bridge at that location was severely damaged during the storm of July 21 and 22.
