Bridgewater Town Council is considering amendments to the Land Use By-law to add clarity to the definition of Dwelling Unit, Single Unit Dwelling, and Residential Care Facility to include the definition provided by the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing under the Homes for Special Care Act. 

During the June 10th Council meeting, Council approved the 1st consideration of the proposed amendments that a group home ("small option home") would be permitted in all dwelling types such as single detached, semi-detached, duplexes, townhouse, triplexes, and multi-unit residential. Where a dwelling unit is permitted in accordance with the Land Use By-law, a small option home would also be permitted. 

A Public Hearing will be held by Council at 6:00 p.m. on July 8, 2024, in Council Chambers at Town Hall (60 Pleasant St, Bridgewater), at which time oral presentations and written submissions concerning the proposed amendments will be considered. This is the final opportunity for public input.
