There is an upcoming public meeting on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. to learn about a two-part development application that Town Council is considering.

The application is for a proposed development agreement to permit an expansion to the existing South Shore Centre at 421 LaHave Street. There would be changes to the existing commercial space, as well as the addition of 262 residential units through building additions of varying heights; these additions would result in a building composed of sections varying between one and eight storeys.

The other part of the application is to amend the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) to increase the maximum height of buildings located on corner lots in the LaHave Commercial (C2) Zone. The current height permission for corner lots is six storeys; the amendment would be required to accommodate the proposed development at 421 LaHave Street.
