At the December 13, 2021, Council Meeting, Council endorsed the updated affordable housing scope of work and funding reallocation. This scope of work defines a series of staff led deliverables for rapidly facilitating the creation of affordable housing in Bridgewater. One of these staff led deliverables is to present recommendations to update the Town of Bridgewater Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-law.
These amendments are focused on adding clarity to the definition of Affordable Housing to include the definitions provided by the Province of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) through amendments to the Land Use By-law.
Resolution:
that Town Council for the Town of Bridgewater hereby conduct First Reading of the Land Use By-law to amend, as contained in Appendix "A" of document# 24-020, to add clarity to the definition of Affordable Housing to include the definitions provided by the Province of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and to proceed to a Public Hearing scheduled for a regular Council meeting on February 26th, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
