DesBrisay Museum Application Overview - Completed
At the July 8, 2024 Council meeting, Council directed staff to commence a planning analysis report to review the Town’s Planning Strategy and Land Use by-Law as it pertains to institutional/support uses locating in the downtown core and the interface these uses have with the commercial core.
The intent of this process is to ensure that institutional uses support the intent of the commercial downtown core, and to make recommendations for amendments, if applicable.

That Town Council for the Town of Bridgewater conduct First Reading of the proposed concurrent amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-Law, as contained in Appendix “A”, of Document:24-187, which:
a) Removes the definition of institutional uses from the Land Use By-Law;
b) Includes specific uses from the definition in certain zones;
c) Updates the definition for rehabilitation and treatment centres;
d) Adds the definition for emergency shelter; and
e) Removes the permission for institutional uses with a residential nature to locate in the C1 and C2 Zones; and further Schedule a Public Hearing for Monday, December 9, 2024 council meeting.

b) within certain zones, includes specific uses that were in the definition of institutional uses;
c) updates the definition for rehabilitation and treatment centre;
d) adds a definition for “emergency shelter”; and
e) removes the permission for institutional uses with a residential nature to locate in the C1 and C2 Zones; and hereby, conduct 2nd and Final Reading of same.
