NEW!! ANTI-RACISM TASK FORCE COMMITTEE
The Anti-Racism Task Force is a NEW committee of the Town of Bridgewater whose vision is to eliminate racism and prejudice in all of its forms within the Town. As a new Committee, nine (9) interested individuals who live, work or play in the Town of Bridgewater are required. The applications will be reviewed and appointments will be made by resolution of Council. The task force will serve in an advisory capacity to Town Council in local race issues that impact those who live, work or play in the Town of Bridgewater. The task force aims to promote a town free of racism and discrimination by:
- Advising Town Council on best practices for developing and implementing policies, plans, services, and facilities that eliminate racism and discrimination;
- Monitoring and reporting to Town Council racist and discriminatory practices in the community;
- Acting as a liaison between community members and town Council on issues of racism and discrimination in the community; and
- Developing an action plan for Town Council to approve for addressing racism and discrimination, as well as promoting diversity and equal opportunity within the Town of Bridgewater.

BRIDGEWATER MUSEUM COMMISSION - SEEKING 1 CITIZEN REPRESENTATIVE TO FILL VACANCY
The successful candidate would be appointed by resolution of Council. The objective of the Bridgewater Museum Commission is to operate, manage, and maintain one or more museums within the town, including the DesBrisay Museum. Their aim is to develop and operate educational and cultural programs, as well as, preserve and present artifacts, information, etc. which are of a historical, natural and/or cultural significance to the Town of Bridgewater and the surrounding County of Lunenburg. PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES FOR TAXIS & COMMUNITY TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS

Precautionary measures for taxi & community transportation operations.
Keep yourself and your passengers protected
To keep yourself and passengers protected, you can take the following steps:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol- based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Ask passengers to sit in the back to create physical distance.
• Avoid handling money, or chits if possible.
• Have tissues and hand sanitizer available for your passengers if possible.
• Ensure air system is not set to recirculate.
• Dispose of all waste in a small waste bag, tie it and dispose of it in regular garbage
Disinfect your vehicle regularly
• Plan to clean and disinfect your vehicle as often as possible--especially after you drop off passengers who appear to be sick and after every medical passenger. Pay close attention to surfaces that are touched often by passengers.
• Use a disinfectant that is pre-approved by the Health Canada for use against novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This information can be found at the link below.
• Wash hands thoroughly after cleaning vehicle.
Special precautions for drivers transporting patients to health care facilities
Transporting known or suspected COVID-19 patients in enclosed vehicles would be considered to be at a higher risk for exposure. If you are transporting medical customers, take the following precautions:
• Be sure to have alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol content and use it often.
• Confirm the passenger has been in contact with 811 and their arrival is expected.
• Ensure the patron is wearing the mask provided by the Nova Scotia Health Authority
• Seat the passenger as far as possible from the driver. If a van is available this would be preferred.
• After transport ensure your vehicle is cleaned and disinfected prior to transporting other patrons.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO GROUPS/ORGANIZATIONS CONSIDERING APPLYING FOR TOWN GRANT

This is a notice to all groups and/or organizations considering applying for grants from the Town of Bridgewater for the remaining 2018/19 fiscal year.
As of August 13, 2018 all funds in the town's 2018/2019 Grants to Organizations account have been expended.
Effective immediately, there will be no further acceptance of applications for grants for the remainder of this fiscal year (to March 31, 2019).
Big Ex Parade Map 2018

The Town of Bridgewater wishes to advise motorists that during the Big Ex Annual Parade, many of the streets in the central west side of Bridgewater are closed to through traffic furing the parade, Tuesday, 24 July 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The streets will open after the parade passes. During the parade, motorists are advised to take the alternate route: Victoria Rd.; William Wile Rd,; Century Dr.; Route 3 - Dufferin St.; or Jubilee Rd. to avoid delays and / or gain access to your destination.
