📣 PUBLIC PARK CLOSURE NOTICE
>>> Senior Citizens Park (adjacent to Bridgewater Memorial Arena), July 29 to August 1, 2024

Residents who frequent Senior Citizens Park in Bridgewater, at the rear of the former Bridgewater Memorial Arena property, are advised that this space will be temporarily closed to the public from Monday, July 29 to Thursday, August 1, 2024, to allow Bridgewater's Hemlock Conservation Project staff team to treat Hemlock trees in these spaces with a Health Canada approved XYTECT spray treatment as part of our efforts to combat the invasive Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA). Signage will be posted at the park entrance accordingly.

TREATMENT DETAILS
The pesticide being used is approved for use by Health Canada and is safe to use. However, out of an abundance of caution, we are asking the public to abide by this closure notice and to stay out of the park during the entirety of the closure period. Once the closure period has ended, these spaces will be safe for all public use again.

The treatment process will take approximately two days to complete and the spaces will remain closed to the public until 48 hours after the treatment has been completed.

The Town of Bridgewater apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this closure and we thank you for doing your part in helping us save our community's Hemlock trees. When the park and playground have re-opened to the public we will post an update accordingly.

Public Hearing -- Proposed Text Amendments to the Land Use By-law

Bridgewater Town Council is considering housekeeping amendments to the Land Use By-law to reduce the minimum lot frontage requirement for semi-detached dwelling (two unit) on a separate lot within Comprehensive Residential (R3) Zone.

During the July 8, 2024, Town Council meeting, Council approved the 1st consideration of the proposed amendments that the amount of Minimum lot frontage for semi-detached dwelling (two units) on a separate lot within the Comprehensive Residential (R3) Zone would be changed from the current 10 m (33 ft) to 7.5 m (24.5 ft).

This amendment impacts ownership only, as two-unit dwellings are already enabled to be built. The amendment enables the property to be subdivided along the common wall and owned by separate individuals.

A Public Hearing will be held by Council at 6:00 p.m. on August 12, 2024, in Council Chambers at Town Hall (60 Pleasant St, Bridgewater), at which time oral presentations and written submissions concerning the proposed amendments will be considered. This is the final opportunity for public input.

Folks who frequent both the Pinecrest Playground and Sperry Ninos Park in Bridgewater's south end are advised that these spaces will be temporarily closed to the public from Monday, July 22 to Thursday, July 25, 2024, to allow Bridgewater's Hemlock Conservation Project staff team to treat Hemlock trees in these spaces with a Health Canada approved IMA-JET pesticide as part of our efforts to combat the invasive Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA). Signage will be posted at the park entrances accordingly.

Bridgewater Town Council is considering amendments to the Land Use By-law to add clarity to the definition of Dwelling Unit, Single Unit Dwelling, and Residential Care Facility to include the definition provided by the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing under the Homes for Special Care Act. 

During the June 10th Council meeting, Council approved the 1st consideration of the proposed amendments that a group home ("small option home") would be permitted in all dwelling types such as single detached, semi-detached, duplexes, townhouse, triplexes, and multi-unit residential. Where a dwelling unit is permitted in accordance with the Land Use By-law, a small option home would also be permitted.

SPECIAL COUNCIL BUDGET MEETING ON APRIL 2
The public is advised that Town Council for the Town of Bridgewater will be hosting a Special Council Budget Meeting on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, beginning at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall in Bridgewater. An agenda package for the meeting will be posted at www.bridgewater.ca/agenda by Thursday, March 28.

The meeting is open to the public and, as always, the proceedings of the meeting will be livestreamed on the Town of Bridgewater's Facebook page and subsequently archived on the Town's YouTube Channel.

PUBLIC NOTICE > COUNCIL MEETING LOCATION CHANGE

This notice is to advise the public that the September 11, 2023, Regular Meeting of Bridgewater Town Council will take place at the Bridgewater Fire Hall (81 Dominion Street) in the upstairs meeting room, beginning at 6 p.m. The location change is due to ongoing renovations to Council Chambers at Town Hall.

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting may park in the parking lot at the rear of the building and enter through the entrance at the rear. Signs inside will guide you upstairs to the meeting room.

For those unable to attend in person, as usual this Council meeting will be livestreamed on the Town's Facebook page and archived on the Town's YouTube page following the meeting.

The Discussion Session taking place on Tuesday, September 5, will be held in the Committee Room at Town Hall as usual.

The Town of Bridgewater wishes to notify the public of a couple of changes related to upcoming Council meetings:

➡ Town Council will hold a Special Meeting of Bridgewater Town Council on Tuesday, August 8, beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place at Bridgewater Fire Hall, located at 81 Dominion Street, upstairs in the meeting room. An agenda package for this meeting will be available to the public by the end of the afternoon on Friday, August 4, at www.bridgewater.ca/agenda.

➡ Town Council's next Regular Meeting of Bridgewater Town Council is scheduled for Monday, August 14, 2023, at 6 p.m. That meeting will also take place upstairs in the meeting room at Bridgewater Fire Hall.

The meetings of Town Council for August are taking place at the Bridgewater Fire Hall due to ongoing renovations of Council Chambers at Town Hall.

Both meetings scheduled to take place at the Fire Hall in August are open to public attendance and will also still be live-streamed via the Town's Facebook page.
